Living Stone Institute has begun in operation on February 1st, 2000. Courses are taught by all professional and experienced teachers in traditional Chinese. Starting from 2005, simplified Chinese has been taught in all classes. In the same year, the school offered math courses: MPM and Jelic for students to develop their potentials, such as logical and motor skills. In 2010, the school started to offer English courses: Phonics, Reading and Writing. These courses are especially recommended for new immigrants to adapt the new environment and gain confidence in learning English. Please contact us for more information.
At Living Stone Institute, we aim to provide students with the best teaching quality. We choose to use different teaching curriculums to reach students’ interest in learning. Therefore, course materials we have selected include both oversea textbooks and additional workbooks. Besides teaching, we also encourage students to attend competitions. By learning at Living Stone Institute, our students all received excellent achievements in the competition.
History
From the Principal
The word “Living Stone” comes from the Bible, which means the cornerstone that human beings built for the God. In Chinese idiom, we have an old saying: It takes ten years to grow a tree, but a hundred years to educate people. This is also our objective through the past fifteen years.
The time when children are before age ten is viewed as the golden period to develop their knowledge and skills. During that time period, lots of parents take children to try out different courses to foster their interests and learning abilities. Therefore, it is very important to prepare the learning plan in advance.
At Living Stone Institute, we have designed the learning plan that suits best for your child. Chinese and Math are what I recommend as the primary two subjects. Jelic and MPM (from Math) will foster the child’s logical and critical-thinking abilities. As for Chinese, it is now seen as the most well-known language that parents will choose for their children to learn as the additional language. Please contact us if you are interested.

Learning Chinese takes a lot of steps and time as a beginner. Textbook is one part of the study tools that could help you get a basic understanding about Chinese. At Living Stone Institute, we teach students with not only what is on the textbook, but also with the proper manners, traditions and cultures.
At Living Stone Institute, we care about student’s learning progress, outcome and what the student needs to be improved. Our teachers always encourage students and help them to build confidence when they are learning. We teach students step by step with standard curriculums. We use effective teaching methods to engage students to participate in class. During class time, we also provide students with opportunities to become active and express personal opinions.
In order to set up an environment for your child to learn Chinese, understanding what people are saying in Chinese is not enough. We also need to put more efforts on reading, writing, and speaking. We would like you to become part of us and take responsibilities in your child’s learning. We love to provide you with feedbacks and evaluations about the learning progress, and we would hope you to cooperate with us.
Based on student’s Chinese level, we will arrange the student into different classes. Students who age from 3 to 18 are all welcomed to join us!
